Futien Memorial Columbarium

Design Narrative

The Futien Memorial Columbarium epitomizes the relationship between Heaven and Earth in Buddhism through shapes and symbols. The main building is square shaped, representing Earth. It covers an area of 3,305 square meters at its base and is composed of six floors. On top of the main building sits a circular, golden pagoda that is three storeys high. Its design was inspired by the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, where former emperors prayed for good fortune. Together, the main building and the pagoda add up to nine floors, an auspicious number that represents Heaven.

The columbarium was built with construction materials that meet rigorous standards. Furthermore, the building is earthquake-resistant, fireproof, and meets other Taiwanese building regulations. Many contingency measures were taken to provide outstanding protection for our clients and employees.
